Rugby 13 (Rugby League)

Hello. Sorry I do not speak Italiano, I hope there are people here who can understand English.
 In Australia (I\'m from Australia) there is a popular sport very similar to Rugby called Rugby League, and in some European nations, who are all new to the sport know it as Rugby 13.
 Anyway, Italia do have a ntaional team, but the players are all Australians with Italian heritage. There is no Rugby 13 competition in Italia and I was hoping to let people from Italia know about this sport.
 There is a website aswell on Italian Rugby 13, but it is all in English - <A HREF="http://italiarugbyleague.com" TARGET="_blank">www.italiarugbyleague.com</A> there is one page written in Italiano, I don\'t know how long it has been since it was updated though - <A HREF="http://italiarugbyleague.com/IRLItaliano.htm" TARGET="_blank">www.italiarugbyleague.com/IRLItaliano.htm</A>
 There is also a page for people who are interested and want to play Rugby League (Rugby 13) and the rules aren\'t much different from Rugby so it would be easy for Rugby players to learn the rules fast - <A HREF="http://italiarugbyleague.com/IRLPlay.htm" TARGET="_blank">www.italiarugbyleague.com/IRLPlay.htm</A>
 
 So if anyone is interested, please take a look and show your interest to help this game grow and for Italia to be able to get a Rugby 13 competition up and running.

What the? Are you Australian or do Italy know about Rugby League?

Hello vesh1, yes, we do know what Rugby League is and most of us knows that in Australia there\'s an \"unofficial\" Italian national team, but actually nobody here plays it. Some teams have assistant coaches coming from the League, and League tournaments are sometimes organised during the off-season, but I sincerely do think that Italians, at present-day, are not ready for it. Anyway, where do you live? See ya!

I live in Sydney Australia.
 
 That\'s interesting that people in Italy actually know about Rugby League, and the national team which is made o Australians with Italian heritage. Also very interesting about the league tournaments in the off season.
 
 In many new rugby league nations they have gotten players from rugby to converto ver to league to start a national competition, so I was hoping for this to happen in Italy. People on Rugby League forums call Italy a joke because the national team is all Italian-Australians, and also there is a world cup in 2008 which unfortunately only looks like having 10 nations, and people are saying if Italy make it it will be very bad for league.
 
 So I was hoping very soon a national competition could start in Italy and the natioanl team will be made up of players who live and play in Italy, so if Italy do make the world cup it would actually be good not bad for league.
 
 I think if rugby players convert over (don\'t have to be the best players, just any rugby players and even people who don\'t play rugby can try the sport) I think they will be quite good at league and Italy could have one of the best of the \"less better nations\" (the less better teams like France, Papua New Guinea etc, Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain/Eng;and being the huge standouts).

Oh incase anyone is wondering, i am 17 years old and yes I am Italian. I really want rugby league to have a national comp in Italy so thought to let everyone know about the IRL website if anyone is interested in playing the game. I will probably send an email if they could have a forum on the site, so if they end up getting one and you are interested in the game you could ask questions there. That is if they do decide to get a forum.

With no TV channels braodcasting Rugby League matches in Italy, I think it is almost impossible to expect a domestic tournament.

Italian RU Federation has far too many difficulties in making his own world improving....they, and we, don't have enough resources to waste in such crappy clones .....

 Hmmm. Some new Rugby League countries don\'t get league shown on t.v either, and they have started domestic competitions, getting players who play rugby to play. Georgia have I think 7 players in their Rugby League team who played for the Rugby team in the 2003 World Cup. I wouldn\'t want Italian rugby national team players to convert over though, but other rugby players who may want to try out league, and even people who don\'t play rugby could be signed if a domestic competition were to start.

I agree.I think that improve the little italian rugby world with the league could be a fantastic thing,but here doesn\'t exist,so F.I.R. why don\'t you think about that??
