I `Pumas` da anni si battono per partecipare ad un grande Torneo internazionale, sia esso il `6 Nazioni` che il Tri Nations. Alla fine i sudamericani, che all`ultima Coppa del Mondo in Francia sono arrivati terzi, parteciperanno al prestigioso torneo con Nuova Zelanda, Australia e Sudafrica. Ad annunciare l`invito e` stato il quotidiano argentino `Clarin`, secondo il quale la nazionale sudamericana e` stata invitata per il 2008 dalla Sanzar, proprietaria dei diritti del torneo, con l`obiettivo di farla diventare membro permanente.
`Si`, e` vero. Ci hanno invitato al Tri Nations, ma ci sono molte cose da sistemare come i diritti televisivi e i biglietti. Ma siamo comunque molto contenti`. io non conosco l'affidabilità del Clarin né so se in Argentina ieri era una giornata tipo il nostro 1° aprile ma la cronaca del giornale argentino è più o meno:
un giornalista del Clarin telefona a un fantomatico dirigente (dde che? UAR? IRB? Bociofila de Rosario?) durante la sessione annuale dell'IRB a Londra. il fd dice "sì è vero, ci invitano al 3N 2008!!". rumori di fondo (el ruido ambiente...: mascelle masticanti, assalto al buffet, insomma quelle cose che succedono a queste convention) ma si riesce comunque ad ascoltare (a malapena) la notiziona. L'invito ufficiale del SANZAR alla UAR arriverà nelle prossime settimane, per il momento non come membro fisso ma poi si avrà finalmente il 4N: questo sempre dalla bocca del fd. Una conferma l'avrebbe ricevuta anche Hugo Porta (ex Pumas componente della delegazione UAR) cui sarebbe satto assicurato l'invito come cosa certa (chi l'ha detto? sempre il fd?). Questo dirigente è impegnato nelle riunioni IRB che si stanno svolgendo a Londra, in cui gli hanno confermato, al di fuori dell'ufficialità, che la SANZAR farà pervenire alla UAR un documento scritto nelle prossime settimane. Per il momento non entrerebbe come un membro permanente, ma l'idea è che col tempo il torneo si trasformi in un 4 Nazioni.

Tanto meno è definito dove si giocheranno le partite, e Città del Capo sembra essere la favorita per alloggiare i Pumas.

@ Emy: c'è confusione, è vero. D'altronde, la notizia è un'indiscrezione senza ufficialità, ma la fonte potrebbe essere un "ben informato". L'articolo potrebbe essere stato voluto per mettere ulteriore pressione alla SANZAR, forse ancora un po' titubante al di là delle uscite anticipatorie di alcuni suoi membri.
Se però a Pichot viene chiesta conferma, se la SANZAR ha invitato "ufficialmente" la UAR a partecipare al 3N, questi non può che negare. Sappiamo tutti del resto che tra Pichot e federazione non corre buon sangue. Suppongo che l'ingresso nel 3N sarebbe considerato un successo della UAR e che la cosa non faccia gran che piacere al piccolo grande mm biancoceleste. Forse anche per questo sarà particolarmente restio a dare per buona la notizia.

Quello che mi lascia sconcertata e' il fatto che tutte ste speculazioni vengano da media europei (inglesi come al solito che NON vogliono gli argentini) e argentini. Nessuna parola su giornali neo zelandesi o australiani. Se fosse per me, ben vengano gli argentini nel 3N: riuscirebbero a vivacizzare un torneo noiossissimo!

No room for Argentina, says Mauger

Aaron Mauger has pleaded with Sanzar's bosses to keep the flavour-of-the-month Argentina side out of the Tri-nations.
Since Argentina's win against France eight days ago, the drums have been beating to allow the South Americans to join either the Tri-Nations or Six Nations competitions.
But Mauger, who won his 44th test cap against Portugal, said the southern hemipshere competition did not need the Argies.
Mauger was not excited by the prospect of an expansion to the Tri-Nations and Argentina's matches being played at home.
"The fact there is a new team in there could be quite refreshing for the boys but the fact that you have to travel a lot could take it out of the team, especially travelling to South Africa as well," Mauger said.
"They become quite long trips especially if you have to get back to play the next week. A lot of thought has to go into that one.
"Travel takes its toll, especially guys with families. Guys get a little bit homesick. You can't do much about it because you're a long way from home but it really takes its toll on you when you have to play a big test if you have just travelled for 15-16 hours.
"That's one thing they have to decide because if we go and play in the Tri-Nations, they'd have to move everything and make a professional structure in Argentina and bring the players back to Argentina to play.
"It is impossible to have a double season to play Tri-Nations and then play in Europe. That's why it's not only the thing of saying, 'OK give the Pumas a competition'. They have to make a proper structure. Rugby is a business so you have to show them the Pumas can be a good business."
Felipe Contepomi, who played in both Argentina's opening victories against France and Georgia was adamant they deserved to play in the Tri-Nations or Six Nations championships. The shock win at the Stade de France ranked them fourth in the world behind New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa.
"It's been two wins against France and Georgia but you need to count the wins. In the last five games we have played France, we have beaten them four times and we've beaten England at Twickenham," Contepomi said.
"We've been close to New Zealand and the Springboks. I think Argentina has been doing the right things to be introduced into a competition.
"I don't know if it should be the Tri-Nations or Six Nations. There are talks and, hopefully, they will introduce Argentina into one competition because it would be a possibility to grow for the team and not play only two or three games every six or seven months."
Given the choice, the Argentina kicker would rather play in the southern hemisphere where he said the competition was tougher.
"I think the best rugby is played in the southern hemisphere so I would love to play in the Tri-Mations," he said.
"I still think we are quite behind those three teams in terms of power but if they give us the chance to compete maybe in a few years time we will close the gap.
"We proved against the northern hemisphere sides that perhaps we are closer. We beat all of them in the last four years so that maybe in terms of competition nowadays we are closer to the northern hemisphere but my dream would be to play against the best ones and that's the southern hemisphere."

Buenos Aires - It would be madness for Argentina to join the Tri-Nations without a complete revamp of the Argentine championship, according to Leinster flyhalf Felipe Contepomi.
"I think it would be ideal for the growth of (Argentine) rugby but it seems crazy to me to play the Tri-Nations," the Pumas back told the local website www.aplenorugby.com.ar.
"We'd have to make a lot of changes to the Argentine championship and the UAR (Argentina's union) and that's why I think that the best thing would be to play the Six Nations," the 29-year-old medical student said.
The UAR has been seeking a place in a top international competition for the Pumas and lobbied in February in Australia for possible inclusion in the southern hemisphere's Tri-Nations.

Wallaby coach John Connolly, however, voiced widespread concerns that Argentina would not be able to field a full strength team when their top players are contracted to French and English clubs.
This is why the northern hemisphere's Six Nations is the preferred option of Pumas coach Marcelo Loffreda.
"The Tri-Nations is played when most of us are on holiday and we need to rest," Contepomi said.
"Now, if the UAR can create something in which we could play again in Argentina, in regional professional teams, like they do in New Zealand, that would be different."

Buenos Aires - It would be madness for Argentina to join the Tri-Nations without a complete revamp of the Argentine championship, according to Leinster flyhalf Felipe Contepomi.
"I think it would be ideal for the growth of (Argentine) rugby but it seems crazy to me to play the Tri-Nations," the Pumas back told the local website www.aplenorugby.com.ar.
"We'd have to make a lot of changes to the Argentine championship and the UAR (Argentina's union) and that's why I think that the best thing would be to play the Six Nations," the 29-year-old medical student said.

La società "6 Nations Limited" NON vuole l'Argentina. Il 6 Nazioni è un'azienda, i cui soci non vogliono un settimo socio. Fine del cinema, tutto il resto sono chiacchiere senza senso.
Ben diverso il discorso 3Nations; le 3 Nations possono volere o non volere l'Argentina, ma SKY e Murdoch sono stati espliciti: o si aggiunge pepe al Torneo o non cacciamo più i soldi dei diritti TV per un torneo che continua ad avere asolcti in calo nel corso degli anni.
Poi andiamo pure avanti a fare accademici interventi o a citare articoli e personaggi più o meno pertinenti, ma questi che vi cito sono i FATTI: tutto il iresto, sono pugnette come diceva un comico dello Zelig...

MILANO - Tra quattro anni l'Argentina fara' parte del Tri-Nations. Lo ha annunciato il presidente della federazione francese e, dal prossimo gennaio, nuovo presidente dell'Irb, Bernard Lapasset, a Woking, in Inghilterra, dove partecipa a un forum "C'e' stato un accordo totale per portare l'Argentina a una integrazione nel Tri-Nations attraverso un lavoro di evoluzione che durera' quattro anni", ha detto Lapasset.
