ogni modo in italia ci saremmo scannati sulla non penalità sull'ultima mischia
avremmo parlato di black out nostro, senza mai citare la prestazione degli avversari, e dubito che sarebbe mai uscito un complimento

Abbiamo scatenato la seconda rivoluzione francese

Per i testi in francese vedo se riuscirò a fare una traduzione anche se approssimativa. Però vi mando un articolo del Telegraph. Buon tutto a tutti. Scoiattolo (non sono in letargo ma ho un po' di casini in giro)


Viva Italia! When the final whistle blew, the home players threw themselves onto the turf of the Stadio Flaminio, weeping and embracing in celebration of a famous win. This was Italy’s biggest scalp in 12 seasons of Six Nations rugby, and arguably of all time.

It was a phenomenal turnaround for a team who were beaten 59-13 by England last month, and had to endure suggestions that they might not be worthy of a place in this tournament.

Truth be told, Italy did not contribute a great deal to this match in the first half, other than the unbridled physicality we have seen from most of the teams in this year’s Six Nations.

When France scored their second try on 50 minutes, moving to an 18-6 lead, everything seemed to be progressing as expected.

But the Italian forwards had not given up. Midway through the second half, France appeared to lose concentration briefly, perhaps imagining that the job was already done.

And the home side chose this moment to mount a furious drive downfield, lighting a spark of hope in the hearts of the spectators. It was a spark that soon began to blaze like a Roman candle.

What kept Italy believing through those final 20 minutes? Perhaps it was the physical sacrifice of Martin Castrogiovanni, the Leicester prop, who operated as a battering ram at the start of every thrust forward.

Perhaps it was the spirit of their heroic captain Sergio Parisse, who kept popping up to secure the ball at crucial moments.

Or perhaps it was just the dogged determination of a team who have had enough of being the whipping boys. They might not have played a huge amount of rugby yesterday, but they excelled at British Bulldog, hammering into every tackle and drive as if their lives depended on it.

The turning point was clearly the Italian try, which even their most optimistic fan might not have seen coming. In the first half, the Azzurri had only managed to slip through the French defensive line twice — and neither of those breaks was anything more than a brief exploratory raid.

But then, on 58 minutes, the forwards gathered momentum in a sequence of bullocking runs, recycling and burrowing their way deep into the French half.

By the time Fabio Semenzato, Italy’s influential scrum-half, span the ball left, the French defenders were dazed and disorganised.

Winger Tommaso Benvenuti got to within five metres of the goal-line before he was hauled down, and there was still time for Semenzato to pick up and feed full-back Andrea Masi, who rounded the defence on the outside.

That score changed the whole direction of the match, bringing Italy to within five points and kindling a new self-belief in their ranks.

While they still needed to be wary of France’s greater craft and imagination, they knew they were winning the physical collisions. And the French were giving away silly penalties too, 13 over the course of the whole match as against Italy’s eight.

Mirco Bergamasco, the winger turned goal-kicker, is not a natural striker of the ball, and he wasted a couple of opportunities early in the second half.

But over those last 20 minutes, he nailed four of four to seal the match. That made a major improvement over Italy’s last game, against Wales, when he had only a 33 per cent success rate.

The fact that the French kept committing acts of indiscipline in the rucks helped, as did the astute game-management of Kristopher Burton, who came on as Italy’s replacement fly-half after 66 minutes and launched some accurate tactical kicks to keep the ball in France’s half.

With just five minutes to go, one of his searching touch-finders was helped on its way by a dozy Yoann Huget, the French winger, who carried it into touch deep inside his own 22.

From the ensuing line-out, France conceded their final, fateful penalty, and Italy moved ahead for the first and only time. Despite some argy-bargy at one final scrum, which had to be formed and reformed as the clock ticked well past 80 minutes, the game was up.

Such a crowd-pleasing conclusion seemed unlikely during the first half, when France controlled play and scored the first try through Vincent Clerc’s delicate chip-and-chase.

Their scrum was utterly dominant, creating a number of strikes against the head as well as a series of penalties — one of which came under the Italian posts and could easily have been upgraded to a penalty try.

Nor did France’s dominance stop at half-time. Morgan Parra’s try, the result of clever link-up play between the two French half-backs, appeared to have sealed things.

But they had reckoned without a lion-hearted final 20 minutes from the Italians, who must have been living la dolce vita on Saturday night.

sono lontano dall'italia per lavoro, ma sono a godermi comunque questa meraviglia, secondo me mallett avra´fatto i suoi bei errori, pero´gente, io una nazionale cosi´tosta sino alla fine della partita non l'ho praticamente mai vista, quest'anno, e´vero, le giocavamo in casa, ma praticamente siamo stati in partita con tutti sino alla fine, 2 hanno detto male, e meno male che abbiamo sfatato il detto del "non c'e´ due........". mi auguro solo che vadano in scozia a giocarsela, se a mallett dobbiamo riconoscere qualcosa, credo che sia proprio aver dato la compattezza al gruppo, non so cosa succedera in nuova zelanda e se soprattutto mallett sara´ ancora il responsabile tecnico, pero´ sono convinto che se andiamo la´ senza grossi infortuni, qualche soddisfazione ce la togliamo, senza considerare che i maestri non giocheranno piu´ cosi´ tanto "tranquilli" contro di noi..............

14 Chris Ashton (England) - If you watch the Saints wing for five minutes you will see him always looking for the shoulder of a carrying team-mate. No wonder he is a constant threat.

13 Gonzalo Canale (Italy) - Who better to face Aurélien Rougerie than one of his Clermont mates. Canale hit some fine lines for the Azzurri, however, containing Rougerie was critical.

12 Shontayne Hape (England) - Arguably the number that saw all six players struggle for top form. But for his strong defence against a threatening Scottish midfield, Hape gets the nod.

11 Mirco Bergamasco (Italy) - Now this was the toughest selection of the week as Max Evans was his usual impressive self, scoring a fine try. But we had to go for Italy's hero.

10 James Hook (Wales) - Warren Gatland has his World Cup number ten. Hook was assured both out of hand and with the boot and put the Welsh in the right areas.

9 Fabio Semenzato (Italy) - For so long the scrum-half position has been Italy's Achilles heel. No more, as Semezato has fitted in with ease, making the right calls at the right times.

8 Sergio Parisse (Italy) - If anyone is more deserving of a victory like the one on Saturday then we can't think of him. Parisse is the heart and soul of this team and led from the front.

7 James Haskell (England) - A boost for the 'brand'. Wonder if more people will check out his new itunes app after this mixture of the dark arts and the showcasing of his running.

6 Robert Barbieri (Italy) - It was a warrior-like 57 minutes from the Treviso back-row and one that forces him on the blindside. Sean O'Brien and Tom Wood both played well.

5 Alun-Wyn Jones (Wales) - No question that this was the Osprey's strongest international performance in 2011 so far. He was strong at the line-out and carried superbly for Wales.

4 Richie Gray (Scotland) - Glasgow's most promising player has made the Planet Rugby number four shirt his own this season. Another all-action effort that kept England guessing.

3 Martin Castrogiovanni (Italy) - Many knew that if Italy were to do the unthinkable, Castro would have to get the better of Sylvain Marconnet. The latter being dropped tells the story.

2 Matthew Rees (Wales) - We don't like to reward someone for doing something not in the laws of the game but Rees created what was the winning try. A mention for Dylan Hartley.

1 Alex Corbisiero (England) - Some believed that the London Irish youngster struggled to make ground against the Scots but we feel his work-rate and dynamism was a boost.
