Bacioci, si' ha ragione Laporte... prima della guerra anglo-boera il Sudafrica credo che fosse considerato al pari dell'India (una colonia). Tant'e' vero che in quella guerra Gandhi partecipo' come soldato/infermiere ai fianco dei boeri Sudafricani...

che io sappia il SAF non ha mai avuto lo stato di Stato del Commowealth...

Grazie ragazzi. Credevo che Australia, N. Zelanda e Sud Africa facessero parte del Commonwealth, ma non avevo nessuna base su cui affermarlo...
Comunque mi sa che i sudafricani siano, come è stato detto, considerati comunitari...

Allora mi correggo/chiarisco. Come membri del Commonwealth of Nations (conosciuto precedentemente come British Commonwealth) fanno parte 54 stati (51 dei quali ex colonie o possedimenti britannici) tra cui N Zelanda, Australia, Sud Africa, India e Pakistan.
Il regno del Commonwealth (Commonwealth Realm - quello che avevo in testa io) e' invece un cerchio piu' ristretto di 14 regni (realms) dove la regina di Inghilterra e' formalmente il capo di stato. Tra gli altri ci sono regno unito di gran bretagna e nord irlanda (UK), l'Australia, la Nuova Zelanda e il Canada ma NON ad es. il Sud Africa o l'India. Questo e' quello a cui comunemente ci si riferisce come "Commowealth".

Quindi a parte la storia degli argentini, avevo ragione io. Stranieri Van Zyl e Botes

Io non ho mai giocato a rugby e sono nato 600 Km più a sud di te ma domani sarò anch'io un leone (ed un miclas) davanti a dahlia TV.

Sul piano tecnico sono, come sempre, completamente d'accordo con te. Anche sul valore della riconoscenza verso Bernini che rende così particolare se non unico il nostro sport preferito.

Dobbiamo distinguere tra regolamento Magners (max. 2 giocatori non comunitari IN ROSA) e regole imposto dalla FIR sulle squadre italiane di Magners (e di eccellenza) (max. 5 giocatori non di formazione italiana A TABELLINO).

Il mio chiarimento era sul Commonwealth che NON e' usato come criterio x la Magners. Tant'e' che Nick Williams e Brendan (Dingo) Williams sono ad es. cittadini del commonwealth britannico (Neozelandese e Australiano rispettivamente) ma NON cittadini comunitari (sportivi professionisti) dell'unione europea.

Se con stranieri intendi NON di formazione italiana (ne' equiparati alla formazione italiana) ci sono Allori (Arg - pass. ITA), Vidal (Arg - pass. ITA), Botes (SAF), Van Zyl (SAF), Veermak (SAF), Vilk (UK) (comunitari) con B. Williams (AUS) e Maddock (NZ) (NON comunitari). Totali 8 di cui 2 non comunitari.

Per gli Aironi si ha: Mercier, Larrague (FRA), Liebenberg, Krause, Demas, Des Fountain (SAF) comunitari e Nick Williams (NZ) non comunitario.

Secondo me invece le due società hanno fatto delle scelte dettate soprattutto dalla logica: non avrebbe avuto assolutamente senso che in una nuovissime avventura quale la ML avessero cambiato gli allenatori che erano già collaudati nei rispettivi ambienti e avevao già una visione e una logica appurata del proprio ambiente societario e sportivo.
Si poteva solo affiancare persone qualificate ( o come dice carry60tessa "di categoria") agli allenatori in carica...cosa che peraltro è stato fatto agli Aironi ,vedi l'allenatore della difesa Phillips che è stato allenatore del Neath vincendo ben tre titoli consecutivi nella Premiership gallese. Ha ricoperto inoltre il ruolo di assistant coach della nazionale gallese ai mondiali del 2007, stesso ruolo ricoperto con gli Ospreys sino alla scorsa stagione e che quindi ha un curriculum di tutto rispetto, così pure come quello di Bernini e nel suo piccolo anche di Moretti).
Il compito che è chiamato a fare questo primo anno di ML un allenatore non è facile, nè per Bernini e Moretti, nè per Smith, nè per un Graham Henry o altri.....in ogni caso come scrive DESIO in un altro post nella sezione Europa ,credo che si debba aspettare qualche anno per poter guardare a testa alta e negli occhi i nostri avversari e questo sarà sicuramente anche grazie al lavoro di chi per primo ci ha messo la faccia magari prendendosi (giustamente e non) le critiche o i meriti....

Glasgow got their new Magners League campaign off to the perfect start with a gutsy victory over Leinster on Friday.

A fiercely-contested first half opened quietly enough with Fergus McFadden and Ruaridh Jackson exchanging penalties in the opening five minutes, before Dominic Ryan almost took advantage of a Glasgow handling error after he had hacked the ball to the home try-line.

Ryan was denied again a minute later when Jamie Heaslip put him through a gap, only for the pass to be adjudged forward, but McFadden soon afterwards added his second penalty.

Yet it was third time lucky for Ryan when Heaslip seized on a Fergus Thomson overthrow and put the flanker racing in from 40 metres.

With six minutes of the half to go, Glasgow lost their own line-out throw and the resulting hack on led to a mix-up behind the Glasgow line, before Isaac Boss got a hand on the ball for the softest of tries.

Glasgow came out all guns blazing in the second half and Jackson pulled the margin back with a penalty - and the confidence started to grow as the half went on.

First, DTH van der Merwe crashed over in the corner and Duncan Weir, on for Jackson, slotted the equalising conversion.

Only desperate defence kept the rampaging Gray and Richie Vernon out but the pressure told, Glasgow went through the phases and set up Weir for the drop-goal which took the home side ahead for the first time in the game.

Isa Nacewa got on the board with a penalty six minutes from time to level the scores but Glasgow were not to be denied and after Leinster offended at the line-out, Weir made no mistake from 30 metres.

With the last kick of the game, Nacewa's attempted drop drifted wide as Glasgow held on for a morale-boosting win on the season's opening night.

The new Magners League season got under way with a pulsating clash at Ravenhill, as Ulster edged out champions Ospreys 27-26.

A rollercoaster of an opening-night contest remained in the balance right until the final minute, as first-half tries from Stephen Ferris and Darren Cave set Ulster on their way to victory, while Niall O'Connor kicked five penalties and a conversion for a 17-point haul.

Ospreys had Dan Biggar firing on all cylinders, as the fly-half scored a try and kicked two conversions and four penalties - a 100 per cent kicking haul - to contribute 21 points.

Richard Fussell crossed for the visitors' other touchdown, but the Ospreys had to make do with a losing bonus point.

Biggar drew first blood for Ospreys with an early penalty which was matched by O'Connor seven minutes later.

O'Connor was then wide with his second penalty attempt after 17 minutes but a great charge into the Ospreys' 22 by new signing Pedrie Wannenburg led to Ulster putting a penalty into the corner.

From the line-out Rory Best's throw missed Johann Muller but when Jerry Collins failed to gather the overthrow, Ferris scooped up the ball and ran over unopposed. O'Connor slotted the conversion and Ulster were 10-3 up.

They extended their lead to 10 points when O'Connor landed a long-range penalty after the restart, but then Ospreys began to claw their way back.

First Biggar slotted a penalty after Ulster strayed offside and then, even with Nikki Walker sent to the sin-bin for taking out David McIlwhaine without the ball, Fussell went over in the left corner.

Biggar's excellent conversion tied the scores, but Ulster crept ahead again after Cave shook off the attempted tackle of Marty Holah for an unconverted score.

Biggar then kicked his fourth shot at goal from four attempts, after Bryan Young was penalised at a scrum to put Ulster 18-13 up at the break.

The hosts stretched their lead just after the restart with an O'Connor penalty but Ulster errors allowed the Ospreys back into the game when a poor pass from O'Connor to McIlwhaine was hacked downfield, before Biggar got to the ball first for a 42nd-minute try which he then converted to put Ospreys 23-21 ahead.

O'Connor was then wide with a long-range penalty before he put Ulster one point ahead with his fifth success from eight attempts after 53 minutes.

But the lead did not last as Biggar kept his 100 per cent kicking record intact to put Ospreys into a 26-24 lead after Ulster infringed.

But Ulster were not finished and after the Ospreys strayed in front of a kick ahead, O'Connor stepped up to slot over the final and ultimately match-winning penalty.
