Sources close to the inquiry have revealed that Wall heard evidence of cheating and sophisticated abuse of the rules in the professional game, including the deliberate cutting of players to abuse blood replacement laws.
A source close to the Wall inquiry said that he had heard allegations of corrupt practices in the Premiership and the Six Nations.
"According to our investigations it [cheating] is fairly widespread. I have wrestled with myself as to whether fifty percent of Premiership clubs are involved or twenty percent, and I simply don't know," the source said.
"What I do know is that some of the practices are occurring within international teams. Those teams are involved in the Six Nations and England have in the past been one of them."
The most disturbing allegations relate to the faking of blood injuries. As well as the use of fake-blood capsules, Wall heard details of players being cut behind the ear and stitched before games, allowing the wound to be re-opened later if a blood replacement is required.
