According to a report in Afrikaans Sunday newspaper Sondag, Steyn has emerged as the major target of French club Racing Metro on their trip to South Africa next month and has been offered “one of the biggest contracts ever in rugby history” to make the move to France.

Ciao Grans., ho riportato l'accordo con Nieto così come l'ho visto annunciato nel sito ufficiale guinness premiership:

Capped 31 times by Italy, Nieto joins from Gloucester where he has made 64 appearances in the past three seasons. With Nieto set to form a front row with fellow Italians Matias Aguero and Fabio Ongaro next season, his signing will add considerable strength to the squad with England Saxons tight-head Tom Mercey also in the Saracens ranks.

The 32-year-old 6ft 1in 18 stone tight-head prop has been a regular for the Azzuri since his debut against England in 2002 and was named as one of the players of the Six Nations in 2006. He joined Gloucester later that year from Viadana where he has helped the West Country club to first place finishes in the regular Guinness Premiership season in the past two years.

The signing of the powerhouse prop has delighted Saracens Director of Rugby Brendan Venter. He said: “We are really delighted to have signed Carlos, a top class tight head who has proved his quality at club and international level. We looked long and hard for the right man with right work ethic. In Carlos, we have found a player who is widely respected in the game and, importantly, who is tried and tested in the Guinness Premiership.”

Le Racing-Metro 92 a reconnu être "en contact avancé" avec le centre ou ouvreur François Steyn.
"On est en contact avancé mais on n'est pas les seuls sur le dossier. Il y a beaucoup de paramètres qu'on ne maîtrise pas, notamment le fait qu'il subit aussi des pressions du côté de son équipe nationale pour rester au pays à deux ans de la Coupe du monde", a déclaré Thomas Lombard, en charge de la communication du club.
