La RWCL (dipartamento IRB responsabile del mondiale) ha annunciato che i diritti TV andranno a Sky Italia.
Ovviamente dicono che l'obiettivo è continuare con la promozione del rugby nel paese il quale si trova già in mezzo ad una crescita della popolarità e partecipazione a questo sport.
Commentano che il campionato 2007 ha avuto una audience di 4 mld di persone

No nemmeno io so nulla circa gli orari, ma immagino partite con calcio d'inizio compreso tra le 4 e le 9 di mattina (che sarebbero, se non erro, le 16 e le 21 in Nuova Zelanda).

European broadcasters are putting pressure on Rugby World Cup 2011 organisers to hold matches in the tournament at times that will better suit audiences in Europe rather than New Zealand where the World cup will be held.

The sheer numbers of the population in Europe make it a crucial area for the broadcasters who pay enormous sums of money to the IRB which makes the Rugby World Cup profitable.

The power of pleasing the broadcasters and the sponsors cannot be underestimated as the Rugby World cup is a huge commercial venture.

Sponsors such as Heineken will not be terribly pleased about matches being played at five in the morning European time as few people want to wake up drinking their beer and broadcasters would get much larger audiences if matches are timed so that the largest possible audience were able to tune in.
Due to this pressure matches in Rugby World cup 2011 could start possibly as late 9pm to suit scheduling in the northern hemisphere which is normal in France but an hour an a half later than what New Zealanders are used to.

Rugby NZ 2011 chief executive Martin Snedden says that his organisation was against starting as late as 9pm but that discussions are underway.

As a consolation Snedden says that games would start "at very latest at 8.30... but it's more likely to be closer to 8pm'' and added that there had not been any discussion of kicking off games in the morning yet.

E' curioso scoprire che alle sei di sera su una televisione gratuita c'è gente che guarda la nazionale nel sei nazioni mentre sky, che trasmette subito dopo pranzo, all'ora della pennica non lo vede nessuno ... curioso che anche la formula 1 viene trasmessa all'ora della pennica ma la vede un sacco di gente ... non sarà che Sky non la vede nessuno perché gli italiani vogliono la Tv gratis?
