<BR>Suva - Le Isole Figi hanno sconfitto Samoa per 21-15 in un incontro valevole per le qualificazioni alla Coppa del Mondo 2007. Il successo ottenuto a Suva dai padroni di casa, comunque, non e\' bastato per via della differenza punti a risolvere il testa a testa tra le due squadre per il primo posto nel raggruppamento del Sud Pacifico. Samoa volera\' in Francia come vincente del girone, mentre le Figi entrano nella Coppa del Mondo con la piazza d\'onore.

Ancora a proposito di Niue: ho letto che l\'isolotto del Pacifico conta molti più abitanti in Nuova Zelanda che sulla propria terra, anche a causa dei disastrosi tifoni che pochi mesi fa hanno devastato l\'isola e costretto molti niuani ad emigrare. Il bacino di rugbisti dal quale la nazionale può pescare è insomma un po\' più ampio di quanto il numero di residenti farebbe pensare. Per gli emigrati c\'è però la sirena della naturalizzazione: il mediano di apertura di riserva degli All Blacks (Weepu) è di Niue.

L\'Italia disputerà un triangolare con la terza e la quarta del cosidetto Sei Nazioni B (Romania, Georgia, Portogallo, Cekia, Russia, Ucraina). La prima classificata di questo triangolare andrà ai mondiali, la seconda avrà a disposizione altri due spareggi per centrare la qualificazione. Non so però di preciso quando giocheranno gli azzurri: forse nell\'autunno 2006.

E se non andassimo ai mondiali?...
