Da Bloomberg: l\'ala Vilimoni Delasau sospesa x un anno x positività (alla cannabis)

SUVA, Sept 20 (AFP) - Fijian rugby winger Vilimoni Delasau has
been suspended from playing for his country for a year after testing
positive for cannabis.
The Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) has taken a hard line against
Delasau, saying the offence was very serious.
\"We hope this sends a clear message to all rugby players in Fiji
that we will not tolerate drugs users in our sport,\" FRU chairman
Keni Dakuidreketi said Tuesday.
\"This incident has brought the game into disrepute, and it
happened when Delasau was wearing the white jersey and representing
his country,\" he said in a statement.
Delasau has already been punished by the New Zealand Rugby Union
following testing by the New Zealand Sports Drugs Agency after
Fiji\'s 91-0 loss to New Zealand in Auckland on June 10.
As a result of the positive test, the winger missed two games
for his Canterbury National Provincial Championship team and had to
pay 500 dollars (345 US) in costs after a New Zealand Rugby Union
hearing.
Delasau, a senior member of Fijian coach Wayne Pivac\'s squad,
has played 21 Test matches for Fiji and was part of the World Cup
Sevens winning team in March this year.
Pivac has previously criticised the New Zealand union\'s \"soft\"
approach to Delasau\'s positive drugs test and said he did not want
the winger in his team.
The Fiji Times reported Tuesday that the International Rugby
Board was satisfied with the New Zealand union\'s action against
Delasau.
