Women’s RBS Six Nations action coming soon

The RBS Women’s Six Nations Championship kicks-off with a bang on February 3rd with defending Grand Slam Champions and Rugby World Cup finalists England hosting Scotland at Old Albanians RFC in St. Albans, 2.30pm.

Scotland impressed in the recent IRB Women’s Rugby World Cup in Canada with a sixth place finish and last year also proved tough opponents in the Six Nations, though four tries at Murrayfield eased England to a 22-5 win.

Next-up England will face tournament newcomers Italy and what better place for the Azzurre to make their Six Nations bow than at the home of English rugby, Twickenham Stadium. England will take on the Italians at 415pm on February 10th.

England’s first away game, against Ireland, is at Limerick’s Thomond Park on February 25th, kick-off 2pm, before Geoff Richards’ side return to Old Albanians RFC on March 11th for a massive clash against France, kick-off 145pm. After two heavy defeats to England in both last year’s Six Nations championship and the Rugby World Cup, the French will be looking for revenge. England A will also be in action at Old Albanians against their French counter-parts, kick-off 12pm.

The Six Nations comes to its exciting conclusion on March 17th at Taffs Well RFC near Cardiff. Wales, who did not play in the World Cup but ran second in the Six Nations last season, have been training hard over the summer with two autumn internationals against Italy and the Netherlands and will prove tough opposition. Kick-off is at 230pm.

The Rugby Football Union for Women is pleased to announce that England rugby fans will be able to watch all of their team’s matches during the 2007 RBS Women’s Six Nations Championship LIVE on a dedicated channel on www.247.TV

Rosie Williams, Managing Director of the RFUW, said: "The RFUW is really pleased to be working with www.247.TV to realise this idea of broadcasting matches from the RBS Women’s Six Nations Championship live through the internet.
“The RFUW first teamed up with www.247.TV for the IRB Women’s Rugby World Cup last year and the service proved very successful and popular with rugby fans all across the world. This latest link-up is great news for our supporters.

“Additionally webcasting will also help generate interest from the wider rugby public in rugby and could indeed prove to be an alternative for many minority sports to access live broadcasting.”

247.TV’s Sales & Marketing Director, Fiona Harrison, added: “We are delighted to be working with the RFUW, building on our successful work together in partnership with the IRB last summer when all Women’s Rugby World Cup matches were broadcast live by 247.tv.

“For the 2007 RBS Women’s Six Nations viewers from all around the world will be able to access full match live video and audio coverage for just a few pounds and can watch replays and downloads on-demand on a delayed basis from the comfort of their own homes. C'è uno sdoppiamento con l'altro forum,a cui mi adeguo, per una informazione completa. Mi sono giunte queste voci dalla Francia.
Tutto il fine settimana sarà al femminile. Quindi non solo la partita ITALIA-FRANCIA, ma tutta una serie di tornei-partite. Questo è il programma approssimativamente definitivo.
Il campo dove si giocherà sabato 3, è quello del Biella, in via Salvo D'Acqusto angolo via Felice Piacenza. Qui inizieranno a giocare verso le ore 17.00, dopo che avrà finito l'allenamento la nazionale Francese.
Il torneo sarà tutto Italo-Francese, Nancy, Des Alpes, Cote d'Azura, Selestat-Giessen e due-tre italiane compreso il Biella.
Lì vicino dopo le partite, verso le 21.00, ci sarà un abbondante cena con serata animazione fino alla ora che si vuole, ad un costo di 5 €.
Il giorno dopo, domenica 4, alle ore 09.00 sullo stesso campo e/o altro, ci sarà il torneo U13-15 ed a seguire l'U17, tutto femminile. Il tutto con squadre Italiane e Francesi
Des Alpes, Cote d'Azura, ecc.ecc.
Dalle ore 11.30, dopo la conclusione delle sedute di allenamento delle due nazionali, presso lo stadio Lamarmora, in via Macallé, si svolgerà un torneo U7, U9, U11 femminile ed a seguire, alle ore 14.30 inizio ITALIA - FRANCIA del 6Nazioni. Biglietto d'ingresso 5 € curva e tribuna scoperta e 8 € tribuna coperta. I biglietti si acquisteranno allo stadio senza problemi, è grande.

Insomma , non c'è che dire, il Biella stà facendo uno sforzo notevole, non per farci vedere solo Italia - Francia, ma per farlo diventare un evento veramente notevole per il rugby femminile italiano. Si potrà dire tutto , ma onore al loro impegno, dai dirigenti, ai tecnici, alle ragazze tutte.
