Hi All,

This is the first email to signify the formal return of London Italian Rugby Club and to outlay our plans for this season and next. You will be receiving this email if you have played for us before, you have expressed an interest in becoming involved in the club or the committee have decided to contact you in the hope that you will become involved, in some capacity, in the near future.

The following individuals should be contacted in regards to any questions/queries that you may have. Can I please ask that if you would like to reply to this email, you ONLY copy the three individuals below as opposed to the whole group. Other points of contact will be added shortly.

Eduardo Rastelli – erastelli@bayleyneedham.com / 07920 057 225
Nick Rastelli – nick.rastelli@wettons.co.uk / 07843 231 060
Marco Attanasio – marco.attanasio@solarcentury.com / 07916 286 163
Lorenzo Belpassi – Lorenzo.belpassi@imgworld.com / 07740 860 334

Ed, Nick, Marco and Renz will be providing updates throughout the season in regards to the club, fixtures, tour, fundraising, events and other administration elements.

Some key points to mention at present:

Fixtures
It is our intention to play 10/12 competitive friendlies this season against teams that we believe are of a similar standard to ourselves. We will be looking to enter a formal league for the 2012-2013 season; however we must demonstrate that we can be competitive against teams, in terms of results, who we will be looking to play on a formal basis during the 2012-2013 season, to ensure RFU affiliation.

We are in the process of securing these friendlies and hope to publish a full list shortly; for now the arranged games include;

1st October 2011
Finchley
3pm
Home @ Finchley

8th October 2011
Bec Old Boys
TBC
Away @ Earlsfield

10th December 2011
Barnes Vets
2pm
Away @ Barnes

31st March 2012
Northolt
3pm
Away @ Northolt

28th April 2012
Mill Hill
TBC
Away @ Mill Hill

Players
We have had a fantastic take up so far of players saying that they will look to commit to us over the coming years. Despite this we are required to enter a 25 man squad for each friendly game that we play (again this is a requirement from the RFU) so we would appreciate it if the following would happen:

- Once the fixtures for this season are published please indicate your availability to play in the games.
- Please don’t leave it until a Friday night to pull out of a fixture, if you have committed to playing; rather please inform us by latest on Wednesday so that alternative player arrangements can be made.
- EVERYONE will start games as we believe that this club is not simply about results but is also about building a club feel and providing everyone the opportunity to feel involved at all times. If you regularly commit to playing then you will play and if you find yourself on the bench for one or two games then please do not get frustrated; you will get your chance.
- We are constantly looking for players and whilst there seems to be a glut of backs looking to play we would always look for more players to join the club so please bring friends and family along to get involved. Specialist positions we are looking for immediately are:
o Props
o Hookers
o 2nd Row
o Back row
o Back three

Training
Whilst we are not in a league this season, training will be on an informal basis. We would like to put in place a regime where we will train together on a Wednesday evening prior to all friendlies this year, however we understand that people work, so if you cannot make it please text either me, Nick, Marco or Renz to let us know.

We will also look to have some late morning, Saturday training sessions towards the start of September as a way of getting a bit fitter and getting to know each other! Details will be published when the fixtures have been released.

Matches
We have team shirts which will be provided for games but would ask that you bring shorts and white socks (preferably) to each game that you play in.

For the 2012-2013 season we will be looking to introduce a London Italian Rugby membership fee that will also include receipt of individual playing pieces of stash and help raise funds for the club as whole.

Events and Social
This club is designed to form an integral part of the Italian community for years to come and we will be looking to hold a number of fundraising events over the coming year. These will include dinner and dance nights, tournaments, nights out, etc and again formal details of events will be published around two months in advance of the event being held.

Initially we will be having a London Italian Rugby get together on 29th July (this Friday) at Gino’s Gelateria, near Trafalgar Square (http://www.ginogelato.com ) Please bring friends and family along so that we can all meet and begin to grow this club – you should all know at least one of us going, so please feel free to get in touch. Aim for 6.30pm down there – it’s £5 all you can eat Ice Cream… Fivers to me when you arrive!

AGM
An AGM will be held in April every year where everyone will have the opportunity to discuss how they feel the club is progressing and ideas for the future. We will look for people to submit any discussion points in March so that the event can be streamlined and so that we can enjoy a productive discussion.

Further Information
Over the coming weeks Nick, Marco, Renz and I will be working hard to pull the following together:

- 2011-2012 fixtures
- Events and Socials
- Player recruitment

We would welcome any assistance or advice in any of the above so if you know any players that might like to join in please pass on our details, if you know any clubs that may be looking for a friendly then please let us know also.

We very much look forward to playing with all of you and hope that we can make this club a success for years to come and look forward to being in touch soon.

Best regards,

Ed, Nick, Marco and Renz
